HOLLY
Growing up in a Potawatomi household there was always a celebration of food. I remember my grandmother making turtle soup, and my family working together to cook big meals every Sunday. I loved my childhood. My grandmother was fluent in the Potawatomi language, but in those days, they treated it almost like a secret language, so I only learned a few words. I went to college to become a nurse because I wanted to be sure our community has access to good healthcare. I have worked for the Pokagon Health Center for nine years and I love it. I am proud to see how our community has grown, and I can’t wait to see all the opportunities available for the next generation.
I am Holly and I am Potawatomi.
